Spokane County, WA Building and Planning Office Special Notice from Jordan Neal, Building Official:
“Pursuant to changes made by the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC), Spokane County will adopt and require construction projects requiring building permits be designed to the new 2021 Building Codes on March 15, 2024.
To vest a construction project requiring a building permit under the current 2018 Building Codes, applicants will need to submit all required construction/permit documents for review by 11:59pm March 14, 2024.
However, to assist vesting of projects to the 2018 Building Codes, document submittals prior to March 15th will be considered complete without energy code forms or truss specification/truss layout documents.
If you are a survivor of the August 2023 wildfires, guidance, and FAQs for navigating fire demolition and rebuilding is available on the Building & Planning website.
The prior referenced documents will be required for plan review approval and issuance of the permit but be allowed deferral at initial submittal date for vesting purposes.
Required documents are outlined in the Submittal Checklist.”
